Their mobile suits are called Gundams because they are constructed from a rare and astonishingly durable material known as Gundanium Alloy, which can only be created in outer space. The operation involves five teenage boys who have each been trained by one of the rogue engineers and then sent to Earth independently in extremely advanced mobile suits known as "Gundams", each designed by one of the five engineers and based on both the Tallgeese prototype and the engineers' first collaborative Gundam design known as Wing Zero. The story of Gundam Wing begins in the year After Colony 195, with the start of Operation Meteor, the five rogue engineers' plan for revenge against the OZ organization. The assassination also prompts five disaffected OZ engineers to turn rogue after the completion of the prototype mobile suit Tallgeese. In the year After Colony 175, Yuy is shot dead by an OZ assassin, silencing the colonies' efforts for peace with Earth. In the distant future, Mankind has colonized space (with clusters of space colonies at each of the five Earth-Moon Lagrange points), and down on Earth the nations have been unified as the United Earth Sphere Alliance. that Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z had started during the late 1990s. through its run on Toonami and was widely credited with single-handedly popularizing the Gundam franchise as a whole among Western audiences, as well as contributing to the rise in popularity of anime in the U.S. While the series was a modest success in Japan during its original run, Gundam Wing became a greater success in the U.S. Gundam Wing premiered in the United States on Cartoon Network's Toonami programming block from Mato May 11, 2000, with reruns continuing until Cartoon Network lost the broadcast rights in 2002. It was also the first Gundam series to air on American television. It is the second series in the Gundam franchise to take place in an alternate continuity from the original Mobile Suit Gundam series, following G Gundam. EW in the OVA/Movie did not transform and has no shield, the Glory of the Losers manga reveals that it does have a shield and Neo-Bird Mode previously.ApNew Mobile Report Gundam Wing (alternatively referred to as Mobile Suit Gundam Wing or simply Gundam Wing) is a Japanese anime series broadcast in Japan on TV Asahi from Apto March 29, 1996. This allows it to continue fighting even after losing 90% of its external armor. This version of the Wing Zero also features the Zero Frame, a unique inner frame that has all the functions of a standard mobile suit aside from armaments, armor, and propellants. Even if the main wings are lost, the suit's mobility and flight capabilities will not be affected much as the sub-wings can compensate for their loss. The two large main wings can double as shields in combat and serve as heat shields for atmospheric re-entry, while the smaller sub-wings are mainly for propulsion and house the beam sabers. EW possesses four angelic wings lined with many thrusters, which also contribute to the AMBAC of the Gundam in space. The Wing Gundam Proto Zero has severely damaged in a battle with the Gundam Deathscythe Hell, and rebuilt by Howard into the angel-winged Wing Zero from Endless Waltz with the wings originating from the Tallgeese Flugel.
